Professional Video Production

You do not need more footage. You need a film that does a job.

The Vortex produces commercial, brand, and documentary video for organizations that cannot afford a miss. One senior owner from the first call to final delivery — the same person who scopes it directs it and hands it to you.

Most video fails before anyone turns a camera on.

It fails because nobody agreed what the film had to accomplish. So the brief is vague, the edit goes eleven rounds, three stakeholders want three different films, and the thing that finally ships is a compromise nobody uses.

We start at the other end. What decision does this need to move, who has to make it, and what do they need to see and feel? Everything after that — crew, schedule, budget, cut — is downstream of that answer.

01 — The offer

A finished film built around one clear outcome.

Scoped, produced, and delivered end to end. Not a day rate. Not a folder of clips.

Brand storytelling

The film that explains who you are to someone who has never heard of you, without sounding like a brochure.

Commercial production

Spots and campaign pieces built to run — in the cuts, ratios, and lengths each channel needs.

Documentary and long-form

Real people, real access, real story. Used for impact, fundraising, recruiting, and legacy.

Executive and leadership video

On-camera work with senior people who do not have a second take in them. Directed so they sound like themselves.

Testimonial and case-study film

Customer and patient stories captured with care and cut for proof, not applause.

Event and campus capture

Multi-camera coverage produced so it becomes usable content instead of an archive nobody opens.

02 — How we work

Senior-led from the first call to final delivery.

You are not pitched by a principal and handed to a junior. The founder scopes, directs, and stays accountable through delivery. Crew scales around the project; ownership does not change hands.

One point of contact

One person who knows the whole project and can answer for it.

Crew sized to the job

A vetted South Florida crew base, scaled up or down. You pay for the project, not the overhead.

Remote-capable workflow

Review, approvals, and delivery run remotely, so distributed stakeholders do not slow the cut down.

03 — Process

Five stages. One owner the whole way.

01

Scope

What the film has to accomplish, who it is for, where it runs, and what done means. Written down before anything is booked.

02

Preproduction

Creative direction, treatment, schedule, locations, casting or subject prep, crew, gear, permits, and the shot plan.

03

Production

Directed on set, shot by a cinematographer who has done it for twenty years. Aerial integrated in-house where the story calls for it.

04

Postproduction

Edit, colour, sound, graphics, and music. A defined revision structure, so review is a process and not an argument.

05

Delivery and versioning

Master plus the cutdowns, aspect ratios, captions, and platform versions you actually need. Files named and organized so your team can find them next year.

04 — Who this is for

Organizations where the film has to hold up in front of someone who matters.

Healthcare

Systems, hospitals, and practices — patient stories, service lines, recruiting, and leadership communication.

Hospitality and resort

Hotels, resorts, and clubs — property films, amenity content, and campaign work.

Golf

Clubs, courses, and golf brands — course films, membership content, and tournament storytelling.

Nonprofit

Mission, impact, and fundraising films that move donors and boards.

Education and institutional

Campus tours, program films, and recruiting content for schools and institutions.

Professional services

Firms that need to look and sound as credible on screen as they are in the room.

Commercial and brand

Brands and agencies needing a production partner who can carry the whole thing.

Agencies and producers

Partner-of-record production, directing, and cinematography for teams who need senior depth.

06 — Who leads the work

D.J. Amerson, founder.

Commercial, brand, documentary, and healthcare campaigns across two decades.

Producing and executive production

Budgets, crews, schedules, and stakeholders on productions where failure was not an option.

Cinematography

Owner-operator on a professional camera package, with a crew base to scale.

07 — How we describe credits

We are precise about whose work is whose.

A lot of production companies blur career credits into client lists. We do not. Here is exactly how to read anything you see on this site.

Category 01

Vortex client work

Projects The Vortex was engaged to produce. The Ben Hotel x Porter Yachts; Place of Hope; Smith, Ball, Báez & Prather; Alabama School of Cyber Technology & Engineering.

Category 02

Selected directing work

Projects D.J. personally directed, where the engaging client was another party. Jupiter Medical Center is shown this way. It was not a Vortex client engagement.

Category 03

Loan-out credits

Work performed for another production company through a Vortex loan-out. Supervising Producer, Netflix POLO Season 1, via Boardwalk Pictures. The Vortex did not produce the series.

Category 04

Prior-employer and career credits

Work performed earlier in D.J. career at other companies. Listed as career experience, never as Vortex clients.

08 — Before you call

The questions buyers actually ask.

What does a project cost?

It depends on scope, crew size, shoot days, and how many versions you need. We scope before we quote, so the number reflects your project rather than a package. Bring a budget range to the first call and we will tell you plainly what is realistic inside it.

How long does it take?

It depends on access, scheduling, and how fast approvals move on your side. We put a dated schedule in the scope so both sides are working to the same calendar. Rush is possible and is scoped as rush.

How many rounds of revisions do we get?

A defined number, agreed in the scope, with a structured review at each stage. The point of scoping properly is that late-stage surprises stop happening.

Do you travel?

Yes. We are based in South Florida and travel for the right project. Travel is scoped separately and transparently.

Can you handle aerial too?

Yes, in-house. D.J. is an FAA Part 107 remote pilot, so aerial is directed as part of the film rather than subcontracted and bolted on. See Commercial Aerial and Ground Reality Capture.

Who owns the footage?

Ownership and usage rights are defined in the agreement before production starts, so there is never a question later.

We already have a project that has stalled. Can you help?

Yes. That is a specific engagement — see Production Rescue.

Let us talk about what the video needs to do.

Twenty minutes. Tell us the audience, the decision, and the deadline. You will leave the call knowing whether this is a fit and what it would take.
